Surviving Jade | The Collection

Introduction | Surviving Jade

Step inside a mind that lives in layers. A mind built to survive, to shield, to endure. This is a collection of stories about Jade's world —and the characters that exist inside that world, villains and heroes, moments of trauma and moments of joy.

How dissociative traits became a puzzle to solve, a quiet, relentless survival of the mind, a journey of self-discovery and self-compassion, creating boundaries for self-preservation in Jade's world.

Here, you will witness shifts that blur reality, moments that break and rebuild identity, and the tender, stubborn ways a human heart clings to happiness found in the comfort and love of parents, family, and friends, amid mental chaos. Each story is a glimpse, but she is present throughout, humming beneath every line.

The collection is not linear. Time bends. Events overlap. Joy and trauma coexist in the same heartbeat. And yet, through these glimpses, a pattern emerges: resilience. The fierce, quiet intelligence of survival.

Thank you to my therapist, Ms. M., for showing me how to show more compassion towards the parts of my system—I’m just beginning to truly listen to. You’re helping me hear our collective inner language with compassion instead of resistance. With your guidance, I’m learning to build a relationship with every part of my system, and that’s transforming the way I see and understand myself in the system.

(The stories in this collection are drawn from experiences with OSDD-1 [Other Specified Dissociative Identity Disorder]. They are not meant to define, diagnose, or represent anyone else’s path. Dissociation exists on a wide spectrum, shaped by childhood trauma, and it can appear in many forms—sometimes as quiet shifts in mood or perception, other times as deeper spaces in memory. It’s often misunderstood or unrecognized for years. Each system carries its own design, its own way of protecting and remembering. These stories offer a glimpse into one of those inner worlds.)
